Cocoa seeds
Cocoa Beans are the seeds, contained in a cucumber-like fruit, of the cacao tree. The flowers/fruit are borne directly on the trunk (cauliflory) and on thick branches of the plant (ramiflory). The yellowish, reddish to brownish fruits( berries), which are of similar appearance to cucumbers, are divided into five longitudinal compartments, ea(botanically speaking, ch containing up to 10 seeds (cocoa beans). As the fruits start to ripeness, the partitions break down and the seeds are located around the central funicle in a whitish pulp with a sweet/sour flavor.
Cocoa bean consists of the seed coat which encloses the cocoa kernel and almost solely consists of the two folded cotyledons, and the radicle. Cocoa kernel is the principal component for the production of cocoa products

Herbal Tourism - Mannuthy 'Plant Nurseries'

Mannuthy is a very important suburb area of Thrissur City of Kerala, south India and very famous for large number of 'Plant Nurseries'. There are around 1000 nurseries selling potted plants, herbs, saplings and seeds in Mannuthy
Annuals are mainly sold in trays (undivided containers with multiple plants), flats (trays with built-in cells), peat pots, or plastic pots. Woody plants and Perennials are sold either in pots or bare-root and in a variety of sizes, from liners to mature trees.
Plants may be propagated by seeds, but often desirable cultivars are propagated asexually by Layering, grafting, budding or other nursery techniques.
It is in nurseries that plants are propagated and grown to usable size. There are retail nurseries which sell to the general public, wholesale nurseries which sell only to other nurseries and to commercial landscape gardeners, and private nurseries which supply the needs of institutions or private estates. Some retail and wholesale nurseries sell by mail.
Nurseries grow annuals, perennials, and woody plants (trees and shrubs). These have a variety of customers: decorative plants for flower gardening and landscaping, garden vegetable plants, and agricultural plants.
Normally Nurseries grow plants in a greenhouse, a building of glass or in plastic tunnels, designed to protect young plants from harsh weather (especially frost), while allowing access to light and ventilation. Modern greenhouses has the facility of automated control of temperature, ventilation and light feeding and and semi-automated watering. Some of them also have fold-back roofs to allow "hardening-off" of plants without the need for manual transfer to outdoor beds. Some nurseries specialize in one phase of the process: propagation, growing out, or retail sale; or in one type of plant: groundcovers, shade plants, fruit trees, or rock garden plants.
